Presentation to Independent Advisory Committee, North East Link

My partner David Craven assisted me in mapping and measuring a selection of trees that would be directly impacted by the proposed North East Link.

I located Nevin Phillips and he agreed to present with me at the hearing. We worked as a team to present and it was very impactful.

The room applauded at the end of Nevin’s heartfelt advocacy. (Laughter too, when he reminded them that he had threatened people trying to remove the tree with his shotgun and he still has it.)

A number of submissions to the IAC on behalf of these trees were made by community, environment and other greoups.

The Independent Advisory Committee ultimately made the preservation of the Bulleen River Red Gum a key recommendation. They noted the trees included in this presentation and also recommended their preservation where possible.
